Tozando jo, 4.21 shaku

The jo is a short staff used in jodo, aikido and various koryu styles. The most common length is about 127.6 cm, which is where the 4.21 shaku comes from. Choose red or white oak. Red oak is light and easy to handle, while white oak is denser and heavier, better for vigorous contact training. Red oak is oil treated, white oak is untreated.
