This traditional black cotton obi is designed specifically for Aikido. The belt is made from 100% high quality cotton, which feels crisp and stiff when new, but softens with use to a comfortable and snug fit. The high quality material and careful construction make the obi a reliable choice for long-term training.

The t-shirt has nine parallel rows of stitches that reinforce the structure and help the belt to keep its shape. The rigid construction keeps the knot neat and sturdy during training, while allowing enough flexibility to maintain comfort. At around 4cm wide, the width is traditional and balanced, providing good support without the belt feeling too thick or clumsy.

The belt is made in Japan at Tozando’s Iwate factory by experienced craftsmen. Careful finishing, smooth stitching and quality control are reflected in the finished product, both in appearance and durability. This black cotton obi is an excellent choice for the aikido practitioner who appreciates a traditional look, durable construction and comfort of use over years of training.
